VYŠEHRAD GALLERY

The Gallery is due to the reconstruction closed.

The gallery building is the remnant of a medieval watchtower, which is a part of the medieval ramparts. In the surrounding terrain there are the remains of the masonry of one of the palaces that stood on the Ducal and Royal Acropolis in the Middle Ages. Its current appearance dates back to the 17th century. The gallery stands on a rock above the so-called Libuše’s Bath. According to the ideas of the Revivalists, the legendary Princess Libuše foretold the glory of the city of Prague from the very top of this rock.
